The Fresno Free College Foundation elections are at the halfway point and we
wanted to remind everyone to vote and send in your ballot.  For this to be a
valid election we must receive 20 % of the total ballots.  We urge you to do

Subject: [KFCF Friends] KFCF operating at reduced power

A part in the KFCF transmitter has burned up and we are operating at 15% of
normal power. Unfortunately, this happened during Thanksgiving week, making
it difficult to find parts.
The replacement parts should be here Monday or Tuesday and hopefully we can
resume operation at full power shortly thereafter.

Earlier this year, KVPR, Valley Public Radio, generously donated to us a
used transmitter when they upgraded their transmitter. That will allow us to
use that transmitter as a backup transmitter. We have been working on
installing that transmitter over the last few weeks, and had been able to
install a switching system, dummy load (about $5,000 worth of equipment) and
get the building ready to move the transmitter inside, and complete wiring,
tuning and testing the backup transmitter.

Unfortunately, we did not get that project finished before this happened, so
we will be at reduced power for a few days. We hope to finish the back-up
transmitter project by early to mid-December.  The backup transmitter will
mean more reliability for KFCF staying on the air at full power, and allow
us to maintain and service the main transmitter while remaining on the air.

Again, our thanks to KVPR for their generous donation, and our apologies for
the weaker signal.

Attention FFCF Members:
 
Please remember to vote and send in your ballot for the Fresno Free College
Foundation election.  This is a reminder that ballots for the FFCF Board of
Directors election need to be postmarked by this Friday, November 30.    If
you received your ballot, please vote and mail it by Friday.  In order to
have a valid election we must receive 225 ballots, which represent 20% of
our total membership.  So far we have received 200 ballots, still short of
what we need.  So if you haven't done it yet - do it now!

KFCF Friends,
 
Thanks to all of you for supporting KFCF throughout 2007.  We look forward
to seeing you at the KFCF table at the Peace Community Crafts Faire on
Saturday, December 1 from 10 am to 4 pm, held at the Big Red Church 2131 N.
Van Ness Blvd. in Fresno's Tower District.  It's a wonderful event with free
admission, entertainment, children's activities, unique handmade holiday
gifts, homemade soups, breads, salads and desserts.  KFCF will have
